About outlet & gfci installation
More outlets is one of the most common electrical requests we get, and it is usually a good idea. Extension cords and power strips used permanently are a fire risk, and homes built decades ago often have far fewer outlets than the way we live now requires.
We add outlets wherever you need them, replace worn or loose receptacles and upgrade two-prong outlets to grounded ones where the wiring allows. We install GFCI outlets in kitchens, baths, garages and outdoors, weatherproof outlets for patios and yards, and USB outlets where you charge devices.
For appliances that need their own circuit, such as a microwave, freezer, window air conditioner or workshop tool, we add a dedicated outlet on its own breaker so it does not trip everything else.
What we do
- New outlets added where you need them
- Two-prong to grounded outlet upgrades
- GFCI outlets for kitchens, baths, garages and outdoors
- GFCI outlets that trip or won’t reset: finding the cause and fixing it
- USB and weatherproof outlets
- Dedicated outlets for appliances and equipment
GFCI outlet tripping or won't reset?
Ground-fault circuit interrupters (GFCI) shut off power in a fraction of a second when electricity leaks to ground, which is how a shock happens. They are required where water is likely: kitchens, bathrooms, garages, basements, laundry areas, crawl spaces and outdoors.
When a GFCI keeps tripping or will not reset, the usual causes are moisture in an outdoor box, a worn outlet, a damaged appliance or cord, or a wiring fault on the circuit. One GFCI can also protect several outlets downstream, which is why a dead outlet in the garage may be fixed by resetting a GFCI in the bathroom.
We find the device that protects the circuit, test the wiring, repair the fault and replace worn outlets or breakers. Where protection is missing, we add it so your home meets current safety standards. Press the test and reset buttons on each GFCI about once a month to confirm it still protects you.

Frequently asked questions
How much does outlet installation cost?
Outlets typically start at $150 each. The price depends on whether wiring already exists nearby and how much access is needed.
Can you add an outdoor outlet?
Yes. Outdoor outlets are installed with GFCI protection and weatherproof in-use covers.
Can you replace old two-prong outlets?
Yes. Where a ground wire exists, we install grounded outlets. Where it does not, we may use GFCI protection as a code-approved alternative.
Why do my outlets feel loose?
Worn contacts. Replacing them is quick and inexpensive, and it prevents overheating.
Do I need a dedicated outlet for my appliance?
Large or continuous loads such as freezers, microwaves and workshop tools benefit from their own circuit.
Why does my GFCI trip when it rains?
Moisture is getting into an outdoor box, cover or fixture. Replacing the cover or box and sealing the connection usually fixes it.
Why won't my GFCI reset?
The device may have failed, or a downstream outlet may be causing a fault. Testing the whole circuit tells us which.
Where do I need GFCI protection?
Kitchens, bathrooms, garages, outdoors, laundry areas, basements and near pools and hot tubs. We can check what your home has and what is missing.
Not ready to book? That is fine. Text a photo or ask a question and we will tell you what we would do, with no obligation.
