About circuit breaker installation & repair
A circuit breaker is a safety device, and when one keeps tripping it is doing its job. The cause might be an overloaded circuit, a short, a ground fault, a loose connection or a breaker that has worn out. We find the actual cause instead of swapping parts and hoping.
We replace failed breakers, match the breaker to the wire and panel it belongs in, and add new dedicated circuits for things like a range, dryer, workshop, freezer or window air conditioner. Using the wrong breaker brand or size is a real hazard, so we install only listed breakers made for your panel.
If your panel is old, crowded or hot to the touch, a breaker replacement may be a symptom of a bigger problem. We will tell you if a panel upgrade makes more sense than another repair.

AFCI breaker keeps tripping?
Arc-fault (AFCI) breakers shut power off when they detect arcing in the wiring, a common cause of electrical fires. Current code requires them on most living-area circuits, so they are in bedrooms, living rooms and many other rooms in newer homes. They also trip more easily than ordinary breakers, which makes nuisance trips frustrating.
A tripping AFCI is not always a bad breaker. Loose neutral connections, a shared neutral between circuits, a damaged cord or a worn appliance motor can all set one off, and so can older wiring that was never meant to meet today's rules. We trace the circuit, test the connected devices and find the true cause, then fix it: tighten a connection, separate a shared neutral, replace a failing device or, if the breaker itself is defective, replace it.
We do not bypass AFCI protection, because it is there for safety. To narrow it down yourself first, unplug everything on the circuit and reconnect items one at a time. If it still trips with nothing plugged in, call us.

Frequently asked questions
Why does my breaker keep tripping?
Common causes are an overloaded circuit, a short, a ground fault or a worn breaker. If it keeps happening, have it inspected rather than resetting it again and again.
Can I just put in a bigger breaker?
No. The breaker has to match the wire size. A larger breaker on small wire lets the wire overheat before the breaker trips, which is a fire risk.
How much does a new circuit cost?
New circuits typically start at $300 per circuit, depending on distance, access and the load.
Is a hot breaker normal?
A breaker that is noticeably hot or discolored is not normal. Turn off what you can and call us.
Can you add a circuit for a dryer, range or EV charger?
Yes. Large appliances need dedicated circuits sized for their load, and we confirm your panel has the capacity.
Why does my AFCI breaker keep tripping?
Typical causes are loose or damaged wiring, a shared neutral, or a faulty appliance or cord. Occasionally the breaker itself is defective.
Can I replace an AFCI with a regular breaker?
No. AFCI protection is required in many areas of the home for safety, so the cause should be fixed rather than removed.
Why did my AFCI start tripping after a remodel?
New wiring, a new device or a changed breaker can expose an existing fault. We check the work and the original connections.
