The lowest quote is not always the lowest cost. Ask these seven questions of anyone you are thinking of hiring, including us.
- Are you licensed and insured in North Carolina, and can I see the license number?
- Will the work be permitted and inspected?
- Is the estimate written, and what does it include and leave out?
- What happens if you find something unexpected once the wall is open?
- Who will actually do the work, and when can they start?
- Do you test and walk me through the work at the end?
- Can I speak to a recent customer, or see reviews and photos of similar jobs?
Red flags
- Pressure to decide on the spot
- A price that comes with no written detail
- Cash only, or no permit for work that needs one
